What Are Manufacturing Drawings?

What Are Manufacturing Drawings?

Manufacturing drawings efficiently communicate all the different details for manufacturing and assembly so that machine operators, production line workers, supervisors, etc. can all understand the product that they have been tasked to make. These documents are usually made using CAD (Computer Aided Design) software such as Solidworks.

Why Do I Need Them?

Manufacturing drawings are the essential middle-man between designer and manufacturer and must be drawn up accurately to avoid any misunderstandings or mistakes. For example, if the product must have a 5mm hole in one side to fit together during its assembly but the manufacturing drawing has the hole dimensioned at 5.1mm accidentally, the manufacturer will make the hole 5.1mm. Even if it seems like an obvious mistake.
